Our Mission
The purpose of Wildside Nature Tours is to enhance the public's interest, understanding and appreciation of the natural wonders of our planet Earth.
We contribute to local economies, conservation efforts and environmental education. Through ethical and sustainable practices, we strive to be a role model for our clients and the tourism industry.
Wildside Tours has been designing and leading quality small group tours since 1993!
Kevin Loughlin grew up with a desire to travel, and has always enjoyed organizing trips for family and friends. In 1993, Kevin took a two week vacation to Belize, Central America for birding and photography. During his visit, he realized his life was about to change. After 17 years in a management position with a major photographic retailer, Kevin came home and quit his job. His need to travel combined with his desire to share the amazing country of Belize with other people, led him to create Wildside Tours. In January 1994 he led his first official tour to Belize. Soon after, Glenn Crawford--a birding guide from Crooked Tree Village, Belize--joined Kevin to co-lead all of Wildside's Central America birding trips.
In 2006, Adrian Binns left Jaeger Tours--the tour company he helped build for over 12 years-- to join Kevin, Glenn and Wildside. Wildside Nature Tours now offers birding tours, photography workshops and tours, and family adventures on five continents!
Why Travel with Wildside?
Because our leaders are as excited and enthusiastic about your trip as you are! Wildside has done extensive "hands on" research into many different areas of the countries we visit in order to offer you the safest tours and best opportunities for birding, photography and nature exploration. We also choose the best local guides for each area we visit to complement the leaders' skills on each excursion into the field. See what previous participants have said about our trips.
Most Wildside tours are small groups of no more than ten people (Galapagos tour maximum is 14, Alaska maximum 6) with a maximum client to guide ratio of only 8:1... a true personal experience with minimum impact on the environment! Wildside's trips do NOT stay in the city and drive to our birding destination each day... whenever possible, WE STAY WHERE THE WILDLIFE IS!
Wildside continues to support local education and environmental protection efforts worl
d wide, financially or otherwise, and requests that each participant bring a small donation of educational supplies, binoculars or field guides to be given to the local schools, novice guides and local sanctuaries. We use locally owned and operated "green" accommodations wherever possible. Many are part of environmental organizations or sanctuaries.
