About Wildside
|
In 1993, Kevin C. Loughlin took a two week vacation to Belize, Central America for birding and photography. During his visit, he realized his life was about to change. After 17 years in a managament position with a major photographic retailer, Kevin's desire to travel combined with wanting to share the amazing country of Belize with other people, he created Wildside Tours... and led his first tour to Belize in January 1994. Soon after, Glenn Crawford--a birding guide from Crooked Tree Village, Belize--joined Kevin to co-lead all of Wildside's Middle America birding trips.
Wildside now offers tours not only to Belize, but also Panama, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Galapagos Islands, Guatemala, Montana and Alaska. Soon Wildside will be adding other states and countries to their list of destinations, using additional, high quality leaders.
Why Travel with Wildside? Because our leaders are as excited and enthusiastic about your trip as you are!
Wildside has done extensive "hands on" research into many different areas of the countries we visit in order to offer you the safest tours and best opportunities for birding, photography and nature exploration. We also choose the best local guides for each area we visit to complement the leaders' skills on each excursion into the field. See what previous participants have said about our trips.
Most Wildside tours are small groups of no more than ten people (Galapagos tour maximum is 14, Alaska maximum 8)! Maximum client to guide ratio of only 6:1... a true personal experience with minimum impact on the environment!
Wildside's tours do NOT stay in the city and drive to our birding destination each day... whenever possible, WE STAY WHERE THE WILDLIFE IS!
Wildside uses locally owned and operated "green" accommodations wherever possible. Many are part of environmental organizations or sanctuaries.
Wildside continues to support local education and environmental protection efforts in Belize and elsewhere, financially or otherwise, and requests that each participant bring a small donation of educational supplies, old binocularsor field guides to be given to the local schools and sanctuaries.
