From the Inside Passage to the open sea along Alaska’a rugged Pacific coast, we will search for birds of many species. During our voyage from Petersburg to Forrester Island--location of the largest Alaskan colony of breeding seabirds--we will pass through many great birding and wildlife viewing locations. Puffins, auklets, murres and murrelets breed along the coast. Jaegers, skuas, fulmars and three possible species of albatross patrol the popular fishing regions off shore. Gray whales, belugas, orcas, otters and many other sea mammals could be seen.
On shore songbirds await: Steller’s Jays, Dark-eyed Juncos, Red-breasted Sapsuckers, Rufous Hummingbirds and several species of sparrows. Ravens and Bald Eagles are everywhere!
