GREAT SMOKY MOUNTAINS

Spring in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is an extraordinary time of the year. The wildflower bloom in the park is simply legendary and it will not take you long to realize that this is the most biological diverse ecosystem in North America! Babbling brooks, tumbling waterfalls, mountains that tower to almost 7,000 feet . . . the Smoky Mountains offers the visual explorer more than a lifetime’s worth of photographic opportunities.
This workshop will concentrate heavily on learning to master the art of photographing waterfalls and wildflowers. Wildlife enthusiasts will love this trip as well as the park has become famous the world over with wildlife photographers for its whitetail deer, black bear, and turkeys.
With this trip you also have the option to add on our Crystal Coast of North Carolina workshop, making your adventure a tour de force of photographing one spectacularly beautiful and diverse state from the mountains to the sea!

This trip can easily be combined with our Carolina Crystal Coast Photo Workshop!

- Accommodations and local transportation during workshop included. Transportation to/from workshop is not included.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Fly into Knoxville TN and shuttle over to Townsend TN
We will meet that night for a meet and greet dinner as well as to discuss the logistics of the coming days.

Day 2 - Wildflowers, cascading creeks, and waterfalls
Each year the park offers us something different in terms of rainfall, timing of peak blooms, and amount of water in the rivers. For this reason, we have a multitude of absolutely amazing locations to explore at different areas of the park, including many lesser known areas! As the title of the day suggest however, we will spend the entire day concentrating on that which has made this park world famous!

Day 3 - Cades Cove and surrounding area
Cades Cove is legendary amongst photographers for its whitetail deer and black bear!

Day 4 - The X Factor
This day will be left upon to a variety of possibilities depending upon conditions. We may photograph elk, wild flowers, waterfalls, blooming dogwoods, or any number of other possibilities.

Day 5 - Go Home or Go Coastal!
This day some will head back home, while others will travel to the coast of North Carolina of an exciting extension making this a Mountains to Sea photo expedition!
